The Forgotten 50 in Vancouver, British Columbia

This is my city, Vancouver. Soaring snow capped mountains, Orca’s swimming in our beautiful waters, and people… so many people from all over the world. It’s a missionary paradise! Yet there is a troubling side to Vancouver. In the midst of it’s outward beauty, is a hard reality. Vancouver is lost and dying without Jesus!

Right in the middle of our city, at the beginning of our Skytrain (subway) – Millennium Line (VCC-Clark) sits Emily Carr University of Art and Design…

And right next to Emily Carr University sits Vancouver Community College…

Together, these two campuses in the centre of Vancouver have close to 20,000 students.

We are celebrating that InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has staff on campus at EMU now. And that several excellent evangelical churches are close by.

Is that enough of a Christian witness to reach the 20,000 students and community connected to these campuses? Clearly not!

The the missionary question persists, particularly here in Greater Vancouver.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 NIV
